William Engel is pleased to present his “waterworks” in Solana Beach, having found “a serenity in the California coast” that plays perfect host to these paintings. They are complex layered systems of tint and movement that envelop the viewer. Color and texture flourish in his stunning abstractions of sky, water and land. This bold and mesmerizing work has brought to William Engel scores of admirers on both coasts.
Engel has been a professor at the New York School of Interior
Design for 25 years. He connected to the Audrey Lordes
School at the Gramercy Residence where he volunteers his
time as an art instructor for homeless GLBTQ teens in Manhattan.
While teaching, Engel focuses his coursework on the validation
of each individual student’s style in relation to the fields of art and design.
William Engel first emerged as an artist on the national
scene in 1979 when he started exhibiting work at the Minneapolis
Institute of Art. Since then, Engel’s work has been featured in numerous galleries including the prestigious Skoto Gallery in New York, George Billis Gallery in NYC, and the Ross Watkins Gallery in Palm Desert.
