Becket Logan Becket Logan is passionately drawn to the facades of period architecture, “I am excited by visiting cities and small towns, discovering new neighborhoods full of various building types.” When the subject, lens, and light are just right, Becket experiences an epiphany that he relives long after.

In New York, Becket’s interest in photography developed with mentor and friend Rudolph Janu, a photojournalist and fine art photographer. He began to focus on the architectural photography of 19th and 20th century buildings, and worked closely with Margot Gayle, a dynamic preservationist whose organization, the Friends of Cast Iron Architecture helped to save SoHo in New York City and lobby for it’s landmark status. Becket photographed cast-iron architecture in NYC and the following year in NY State for an exhaustive survey. As a result, the FCIA produced a color slide edition of these photographs, which are used by architectural schools, museums, lecturers and historians.

In the following decades, Becket photographed structures in New York, Chicago, New Orleans and San Francisco. Many of these have appeared in travel magazines and in the U.S. Dept. of Interior National Park Service publication Metals in America’s Historic Buildings, that has continued to be reprinted. He has also photographed numerous writers and poets in black and white large format, which have appeared in book jackets and literary quarterlies.
